When designing our first shirt we always had the three F's in mind, in order to make a shirt which we hope will become your favourite.
Unique to HAAR, Our shirts are designed from scratch. With influences taken from the best bits of our wardrobe of shirt favourites. Including vintage workwear, military garb and classic menswear; We have developed a classic shirt which is timeless and has the looks to match.
The button-down collar has a subtle influence from early work-shirts from 1940's with the traditional spearpoint-shaped collar pared back for a more contemporary approach. It is a collar that has a bit more character, without being the main centre of attention.
Banded / Grandad collar
Our banded collar shirts have a nice height to them without looking like a mandarin collar. The look very sharp when buttoned closed and equally good when the top button is left open, giving a more casual appearance.
Pop-over / 1/4 Placket
A slightly more casual style, the pop-over combines a clean, minimal appearance with the detailing that the short placket brings for a shirt that is versatile and looks particularly good layered up.
A high quality shirt should be made from high quality materials. We choose only the finest quality fabrics for our shirts, sourced from UK suppliers only. We feel it is important that the traceability and the provenance of our shirts remains intact, this way we can ensure that a HAAR garment is of excellent quality and is ethically made.
Small details can be found in our shirt, the mitred cuff makes for a more refined finish and reflects the shape of the chest pocket for continuity throughout the design.
Stitched 'X' in the side-seam
A very small and subtle gesture at the bottom of the side-seam. Being made in Scotland, we wanted to reflect that in some small way without taking away from the shirt itself. A small saltire cross can be found hand-sewn across the seam.
Its a joy to put on a shirt that fits well. For comfort and confidence we have developed an off-the-peg shirt that utilises classic proportions to provide a fit that is timeless.
Our standard shirt pattern is a classic fitting garment, with space in the body for comfort and a traditional silhouette.
The box pleat gives added shape to the silhouette of the shirt and improves the fit by removing excess fabric.
The shape of our standard shirt is the result of much trial and error. The curved hem allows for the movement of the hip and provides additional detail when worn untucked.
Our shirt sizing is standardised, however, we do have measurements available in our product specifications to help you make a more the right choice. We currently have Small, Medium, Large and X-Large however we intend to expand our offering in the future.
What is Form without Function? While our shirts look the part, wearability and functional details provide the wearer with all the little details you should expect.
The chest pocket on our shirt is a generously sized patch pocket with angle bottom corners, adding a little detail without being too distracting. It features a pen compartment for added functionality.
With longevity in mind, our shirts need to be durable. To ensure this is the case our shirts are finished with a Felled seam. This method encases the raw edge of the fabric inside the seam for a more durable and neater finish.
Extra button cuff
An extra button on the cuff allows for added adjustment and gives further detail to the shirt.
The Laundry tab is both a product of form and function. It adds a little detail to the back of the garment while also providing a means of hanging the shirt. It was originally developed on sailors shirts for hanging on hooks when changing.
